This role would suit an early-career data professional who is keen to develop technical data engineering skills while also gaining experience of consulting, client delivery and public sector transformation. About the role: We are keen to speak to candidates who are interested in supporting us to deliver services to the public sector, which: Improve how residents, businesses and service users interact with council and public services Help public sector organisations make better use of their data for decision-making, reporting and service improvement Improve data quality, consistency and governance across complex operational services Support the migration of data from legacy platforms into modern cloud-based systems Enable automation and digital transformation across services such as planning, building control, housing, customer services and regulatory services Help clients move from fragmented spreadsheets, manual processes and legacy databases to more reliable, scalable and secure data solutions Key responsibilities: Developing, maintaining and testing ETL/ELT pipelines, ingesting data from internal systems, APIs, databases and other sources Supporting data migration from legacy systems, including cleansing, validation, reconciliation and transformation Producing data mapping documents, translation tables and migration rules, and supporting automation of these processes Working with relational databases, data warehouses and reporting datasets, including writing and troubleshooting SQL Preparing high-quality datasets for analytics, dashboards and reporting, and supporting Microsoft Azure cloud platforms Documenting technical solutions and decisions, performing data quality checks, and supporting UAT and migration testing Working with non-technical staff to translate business requirements into technical specifications Ensuring compliance with data security, governance and GDPR, and contributing to project documentation and client updates In this role, we’d expect you to… Be a clear and effective communicator, with the ability to flex style to the audience and client context Be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical colleagues Take responsibility for clarifying scope, planning and driving forward delivery of defined workstreams, delegating tasks as required, meeting deadlines and flagging risks Confidently present your own work / findings as part of a wider project team, to new and familiar stakeholders Have a growing understanding of commerciality – invoicing, margins, budgets and frameworks Develop positive relationships with clients through project work and start to influence at a project level with key stakehold
