Description
This individual will collaborate closely with other Verisk teams, customers, and implementation partners to establish best-in-class data modeling standards, guide data persistence practices, define canonical structures, and ensure seamless integration with policy administration systems and related downstream applications. The ideal candidate combines deep P&C industry knowledge with hands-on technical expertise across data modeling, databases, React-based UI integration, REST API design, and cloud-native architecture. 1. Data Architecture & Strategy • Design, evolve, and maintain a canonical insurance data model (CIDM) that supports ISO ERC and proprietary carrier products, and custom extensions. • Define and enforce standards for data capture, persistence, normalization, and extensibility, ensuring alignment with the FAST P&C Platform’s architecture. • Architect and govern effective dating, versioning, and historical tracking strategies across coverages, forms, schedules, exposures, and hierarchies. • Model complex insurance relationships including 1-1, 1-many, many-many, cross-product linkages, and multi-level policy structures. • Establish and communicate best practices for product-agnostic and highly extensible model design. 2. Hands-on Architecture & Solution Design • Define end-to-end technical architecture for integration with downstream systems (rating, analytics, reporting). • Design and optimize relational schemas in SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including indexing strategies, partitioning approaches, stored procedures, and performance tuning. • Partner with developers to build and refine .NET-based services that implement business logic, data access patterns, and platform APIs. • Define and maintain REST API contracts for consistent, secure, and scalable data interchange. • Work with UI teams to align React components and workflows with underlying data structures. • Contribute to end-to-end solution architecture including AWS cloud deployments, microservices, and integrations. 3. Governance, Metadata, and Standards • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks including data contracts, naming standards, lineage tracking, and data quality controls. • Implement standards for extensibility (typed extension tables, JSON attributes) and enforce data quality rules. • Drive compliance with ISO updates and carrier-specific filings through version-controlled mapping rules. • Oversee management of product registries, mapping rules, configuration metadata, and product lineage. 4. Platform, Implementation Partnership, and Stakeholder Collaboration • Partner with business analysts, product managers, and insurance SMEs to translate business requirements into robust data structures. • Serve as the data architecture authority for the FAST P&C Platform team. • Represent data architecture in customer implementations, conduct workshops, and validate technical assumptions. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues during onboarding, testing, and internal and external deployments. • Collaborate with Verisk product teams, enterprise architects, and data engineers to ensure seamless integration and operationalization of the data model. • Communicate technical risks, trade-offs, and opportunities to leadership in clear business terms. 5. Leadership & Mentoring • Provide technical leadership to developers, modelers, DBAs, and data engineers. • Mentor teams on data design principles, insurance concepts, API patterns, and cloud architecture. • Communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders, client partners, and executives. • Foster a culture of innovation, scalability, accountability, and performance.
