The Country Manager, China is responsible for leading DCI’s China business, building market position, managing the local sales and support organization, and developing strategies that protect and grow DCI’s presence in the Chinese horizontal directional drilling market. Key Responsibilities Develop a strong working knowledge of the Chinese horizontal directional drilling market, including utility infrastructure, construction practices, customer needs, regulatory dynamics, and adjacent market opportunities. Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key industry stakeholders, including OEMs, dealers, utility contractors, utility owners, regulatory bodies, civil engineering firms, and other market influencers. Represent DCI in partner, customer, industry, and market-facing meetings to strengthen DCI’s visibility, credibility, and commercial influence in China. Lead the DCI China Sales and Support team in building, maintaining, and expanding key partner and customer relationships. Oversee the performance, development, accountability, and effectiveness of the DCI China team, including field sales, support, and operational execution. Position DCI as the leading brand for HDD locating technology, service, support, and customer trust within the China market. Develop and maintain deep competitive intelligence on the Chinese HDD market, including key competitors, pricing pressure, product gaps, customer behavior, emerging threats, and growth opportunities. Work with DCI headquarters to develop business, channel, and distribution strategies that allow the China team to respond effectively to changing market conditions. Design and support strategies with Chinese OEMs, including potential partnership opportunities in export markets such as Latin America, India, Southeast Asia, and other growth regions. Build and implement in-country promotional, brand-building, and customer engagement activities that are appropriate for Chinese business culture and aligned with DCI’s global brand. Prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews covering sales performance, budget performance, operational health, team performance, competitive activity, market intelligence, risks, and opportunities. Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, vetting, onboarding, training, and development of China-based team members. Identify and address risks to operational stability, brand reputation, customer trust, and DCI’s long-term business position in China. Requirements Ideal Candidate Profile 10+ years of experience with a China-based multinational corporation, preferably with a U.S.-based company and exposure to U.S. business practices. Experience in channel management, business-to-business sales, capital equipment sales, construction equipment, or a related industrial market; fluency in both Chinese and English required. A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree in business or a related field preferred. Base pay is reviewed at a minimum on an annual basis. Profit sharing bonus: Over the last 3 years, quarterly bonuses ranged between 10% and 18%.
