Costs Draftsperson – Family Legal Aid Our client is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join its specialist Family Legal Aid team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established legal practice specialising in publicly funded family matters, where accuracy, attention to detail and a strong understanding of legal aid costs are highly valued. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and managing costs documentation for a varied caseload of family legal aid matters, working closely with fee earners to ensure claims are accurate, compliant and submitted efficiently. Key Responsibilities • Prepare detailed bills of costs and supporting documentation for family legal aid matters. • Liaise with solicitors, counsel and other legal professionals to ensure accurate and compliant costs claims. • Manage legal aid costs matters from preparation through to submission. • Ensure all work complies with current Legal Aid Agency requirements and relevant costs legislation. • Support the wider team with costs-related queries and documentation. Preferred Experience • Previous experience as a Costs Draftsperson or Costs Lawyer. • Strong knowledge of family legal aid costs rules, procedures and billing requirements. • Ability to prepare accurate, well-supported bills of costs and supporting schedules. • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Preferred Qualifications • Costs Lawyer qualification or equivalent experience. • Membership of a recognised professional costs body is advantageous. • Legal training or experience within family law or legal aid is desirable.
