🩺 We're Hiring – Corporate Accountant 📍 Location: Enfield Council (Hybrid Working) 🔖 Reference – SCS2013 🕒 Job Type: Permanent – 35 Hours Per Week 💼 Start Date: ASAP 💰 Rate/Salary: £45,393 – £57,477 per annum About the Role: Enfield Council is embracing a modern hybrid working approach, providing flexibility to work from home while maintaining collaborative office-based working. With a new senior leadership team driving positive transformation, this is an exciting opportunity to join a proactive, supportive, and forward-thinking finance function. As a Corporate Accountant, you will report directly to the Deputy Chief Accountant and play a pivotal role in strengthening financial reporting, enhancing financial controls, and supporting key finance initiatives across the organisation. This role offers excellent exposure to high-profile accounting areas and the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement within a large and diverse local authority. Hybrid Working: Currently, office attendance is required twice per month, in line with corporate requirements, which may be subject to change. Key Responsibilities: • Manage and support the Council’s fixed asset accounting function, a key and high-profile area of responsibility • Assist with the annual closure of accounts and strengthen financial controls and processes • Lead on IFRS 16 lease accounting, ensuring robust governance and supporting documentation • Support the oversight of Property, Plant & Equipment (PPE) financial processes • Ensure compliance with IFRS requirements and the CIPFA Code of Practice • Provide financial advice, insight, and support to services across the Council • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, controls, and processes • Contribute to the development of best practice financial management across the organisation Requirements: • CCAB or CIMA qualified, or part-qualified with active progression towards qualification • Strong experience in financial accounting, particularly fixed asset accounting • Sound understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards • Experience supporting financial year-end processes and account closures • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Local government finance experience is desirable but not essential • Ability to build effective working relationships across a large organisation Why Join Us? • Competitive salary of £45,393 – £57,477 per annum • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) • Up to 32 days annual leave plus public holidays and a Christmas closure day • Flexible hybrid working arrangements • Interest-free season ticket loan • Ongoing professional training and career development opportunities • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme • Health, leisure, and cycle-to-work benefits • Opportunity to contribute to a modernising and ambitious finance function • Supportive and collaborative team environment 🎁 Referral Bonus Available!
