The Contracts Analyst   is responsible for   supporting the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, and managing contracts to ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and business   objectives . This role partners closely with   Structuring and Origination, Front Office Trading,   Legal, Procurement, Finance, Risk   Management , and business stakeholders to mitigate contractual risks and support operational efficiency. This position is open to   two P-levels :   Senior Financial Risk Analyst (Grade 7 / P3 – Career Professional)   and   Principal Financial Risk Analyst (Grade 8 / P4 – Specialist Professional) .   The level at which an offer is made will be   determined   based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience. Job Overview The addition of a Contracts Analyst is critical to support increasing contractual complexity, regulatory requirements, and operational demands across energy trading, settlements, and   contracts   functions. This role will reduce financial risk, improve contract lifecycle efficiency, and strengthen compliance—particularly in preparation for evolving market structures such as EDAM. Drafted, analyzed, and redlined NDAs, MSAs, and SOWs while ensuring alignment with legal standards and commercial   objectives . Ability to read, interpret, and analyze contracts for risk and compliance. Identify unfavorable or non-standard terms. Understand clause interaction and downstream impacts. Summarize contract terms and provide recommendations to stakeholders  . This role supports   power wholesale market   management by   identifying   and analyzing potential   contractual risks,   strong   knowledge   and familiarity with master agreements ,   e nsur ing   contracts   comply with   applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies .   Support regulatory, audit, and risk management reviews   and m onitor changes in   contract related   policies or standards .   Protect s   the organization’s financial, legal, operational, and reputation interests . Key Responsibilities Responsibilities for this role are   determined   by P-level and are outlined separately below. Responsibilities – Senior Financial Risk Analyst (Grade 7 / P3) Compliance   and   Risk Management Ensure contracts   comply with   applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies Support regulatory, audit, and risk management reviews Monitor changes in contract related policies or standards Contracts   Terms Coordinate the   negotiation of   contracts   terms with vendors and counterparties (including guarantees, letters of   contracts ,   contracts   support annex, etc.). Enterprise Risk Management Develops   contract   risk definitions; works with management to design, implement and sustain an effective risk management program and coordinates efforts across the organization to ensure alignment with program   objectives . Risk Analysis Conducts analyses and develops reports across complex data sets requiring unique/new analysis approaches; develops reports   containing   recommendations for management and works with internal clients to implement approved recommendations.   Design and implement controls for contract accuracy and settlement alignment.   Support SOX controls including contract review,   approval   workflows, and documentation.   Ensure segregation of duties and proper approval authority in contract execution. Regulatory Analyses Evaluates contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations throughout the contract lifecycle. Data Management Tools Leads increasing efficiency of business processes (automated and manual) and data gathering/processing for analysis and reporting purposes. Contracts Management Maintains, makes recommendations for improvement and updates   contracts   policies, procedures and scoring matrices; trains others in   contract s review and   analysis; performs   contracts risk   analyses; makes recommendations to management on   appropriate actions ; negotiates and prepares letters of   agreements . Responsibilities – Principal Financial Risk Analyst (Grade 8 / P4) Contracts   Risk Assessment Leveraging the analysis of others, identifies broad risks to the company and leads the development and implementation of recommended mitigation strategies; establishes and maintains department's operating plans and budgets related to specific mitigation strategies; works, leads, and/or coordinates work with outside specialists and effectively leads/teaches others how to interpret and perform complex analysis. Contracts   Terms Provides oversight/leadership to team on negotiating   contracts   terms with vendors and counterparties (including guarantees, letters of   agreements ,   contracts   support annex, etc.). Enterprise Risk Management Develops common definitions of risk for the entire organization; works with executive management to design, implement and sustain an effective risk management framework and program and coordinates efforts across the organization to ensure alignment with program   objectives ; reports out to executive   senior   leadership and Board of Directors. Risk Analysis Leads analyses and report development for companywide risk analysis assessments;   leads   analyses, reporting and implementation of counterparty/vendor   contracts   review and risk mitigation . Regulatory Analyses E valuat es   contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations throughout the contract lifecycle. Data Management Tools Serves as an expert resource in the organization's risk management tools. Contracts Management Serves as an expert resource   and consultant   in the organization on how to analyze   contracts   risk and develop   contracts   risk mitigation   strategies ; maintains, makes recommendations for improvement, and updates corporate   contracts   policies, procedures and scoring matrices; trains others in   contracts review and   analysis ; performs   contracts   analyses and makes recommendations to management on appropriate actions; negotiates and prepares letters   of agreements . Education / Experience / Certifications Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/economics /legal studies   or other related field or equivalent experience. Experience • P3:   Typically   five or more years in related field • P4:   Typically   eight or more years in related field Minimum   Competencies Functional Competencies Proficiency   by level: • P3: Advanced • P4: Advanced Advanced knowledge of risk management concepts including   disputes   and litigation ,   n on-compliant data privacy clauses ,   m issing governing law or   jurisdiction ,   p oorly defined service levels (SLAs) ,   and i nvalid limitation of liability .
