Description
About the role BrightLocal’s content engine currently drives 100% of our inbound pipeline. It’s a strong foundation, but search and discovery are changing fast, and we need to change with it. We’re looking for a Content Lead who has already begun navigating this shift. Someone who understands the move toward AI-driven discovery, zero-click search, and multi-channel content distribution, and has started to evolve their approach beyond traditional SEO. This role is about leading that transformation here. You’ll take an established, high-performing, SEO-led and education-led content function and reshape its next chapter: diversifying where and how our audience discovers us, strengthening our brand visibility beyond search, and ensuring content drives measurable impact across the entire customer journey, not just organic traffic. This is a marketing leadership role with a strong change mandate. You’ll set direction, introduce new frameworks, challenge existing ways of working, and lead the team through that evolution. We’re looking for someone who has led teams and led change before, bringing people with them while raising the bar on what content can deliver. You’ll lead and develop two talented Content Managers, and work closely with Product, Digital & Demand, Brand & Comms, and Commercial to ensure content is aligned with positioning, campaigns, lifecycle marketing, and commercial goals. If you’ve led content in-house in SaaS, owned performance beyond organic traffic, and have experience evolving a content strategy in response to how discovery is changing, we’d love to hear from you. What you’ll do Strategy & Leadership Own and evolve BrightLocal’s content strategy—shifting from a traditional SEO-led model to a multi-surface, AI-influenced discovery approach. Set clear direction, translating strategy into focused plans, priorities, and KPIs tied to pipeline, revenue impact, and brand visibility. Lead, develop, and inspire the content team (2 Content Managers), guiding them through changes in how content is planned, created, and measured. Act as a change leader, challenging existing approaches, introducing new frameworks, and embedding more effective ways of working. Partner with senior stakeholders (Leadership, Product, Brand) to ensure content supports business goals and evolving discovery behaviour. Innovation & Growth Stay ahead of shifts in search, AI, and content discovery, turning emerging trends into practical strategy. Expand where and how we show up, diversifying content distribution beyond owned channels. Drive experimentation with new formats, platforms, and content models, with a clear focus on impact. Content Planning & Creation Evolve content planning from SEO-led to audience-first, multi-channel delivery aligned to how users now discover and engage. Maintain high editorial standards across all formats and channels. Guide the creation of content that not only informs and educates but is designed for visibility across different discovery environments Optimisation & Measurement Redefine success metrics for a zero-click, AI-influenced landscape, moving beyond traffic to visibility, influence, and revenue impact. Ensure content is optimised for discoverability across search, AI surfaces, and other key channels. Use data and insight to continuously improve performance and demonstrate ROI. Governance & Process Build and evolve workflows that enable speed, experimentation, and high-quality output at scale. Balance strong editorial governance with the flexibility needed to adapt to new formats and channels. About you Demonstrable experience in content strategy and leadership within B2B SaaS, tech, or digital marketing. Experience targeting SMBs or marketing agencies is a plus. Proven track record of building and evolving content strategies t
