Description
The Content Automation Specialist is a hands-on builder responsible for the assembly, socialization, and support of content automation initiatives across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Content with a dotted-line relationship to the Intelligent Automation team, this role identifies where AI agents and automated workflows can accelerate the content team’s work, then designs, builds, deploys, and maintains the tooling that delivers that acceleration. The work spans the full lifecycle—from iterating on early-stage MVPs to rolling tools out across multiple teams, and ultimately toward fully automating select websites end to end. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable mapping a manual process, prompting and orchestrating large language models, wiring up APIs and integrations, and partnering with stakeholders to drive adoption. This person balances speed and experimentation with the security, compliance, and quality standards the organization requires. YOUR CHALLENGE: • Iterate on an existing news-automation tool currently  operating  as an MVP, then  scale to other  teams that would  benefit  from it. • Audit the content team’s recurring tasks,  identify  where automation can  assist , and build the AI agents to execute them—spanning  multi-media  generation, style-guide-based editing, and publishing. • Automate the implementation of SEO optimization recommendations as the organization’s SEO tooling evolves. • Build agents that interpret automatically collected performance data and use it to generate relevant storylines across network sites, with  appropriate source  attribution and linking. • Design workflows that scale content production by taking a single tier-1 writer’s work and generating tailored variants for each relevant site (e.g., reviews). • Build a social-scaling agent that analyzes each site’s news coverage, suggests posts across target platforms, and eventually connects to a social media management platform to schedule them automatically. • Work toward the full automation of select websites—including evergreen content, on-page optimizations, news and blog content, and social posting. • Continuously  scout  other content and marketing processes for automation opportunities. • Partner with  Intelligent  Automation ,  I nformation  Security ,  Product  and  Engineering  to ensure all tooling meets security, data-handling,  integration   and compliance standards. • Document, socialize, train teams on, and provide ongoing support for deployed automation tools. • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Content. TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED: A Content Automation  Specialist  should have a minimum of  two  years of experience in automation, content operations,  scripting and low-code no-code tools or RPA tools , or a related technical field—including hands-on experience building AI-powered tools or automated workflows—a nd a  degree  or equivalent practical experience. Other qualifications include: • Hands-on experience designing and orchestrating AI agents and large language model workflows, including prompt engineering and evaluation of model outputs. • Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and connecting AI models to external tools, APIs, and data sources , and using such tools using agentic platforms . • Working knowledge of workflow-automation platforms (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Make) and the ability to chain reliable multi-step processes. • Proficiency  in a scripting language such as Python or JavaScript for building integrations, glue code, and custom tooling. • Comfort working with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication to connect disparate systems. • Git / collaborative development skills and  version control skills are considered as an asset. • Knowledge of structured, process-oriented development leveraging AI-powered specification kits and implementation handoffs. • Ability to map manual processes and translate them into maintainable, well-documented automated workflows. • Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) , social media  platforms  and a solid understanding of SEO and content operations. • Strong data literacy—able to interpret structured data and transform it into actionable outputs. • A pragmatic, iterative builder’s mindset: ship an MVP, gather feedback, and improve. • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to socialize new tools and drive adoption across teams. • Awareness of AI governance, security, and compliance considerations when deploying automated systems. • Skilled at bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams, making complex systems and processes easy to understand.
