The Role In this position, you will deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and provide psychiatric care and treatment for adults in the community or inpatient setting. The caseloads and on-call requirements are extremely manageable. The Consultation Liaison role covers referrals from the general medical, surgical and maternity wards and works closely with the palliative care team, including in the hospice. There is a strong commitment to ongoing education, training, and research with ongoing projects and links with the local Rural Clinical School and local Universities. Consultants with subspecialty qualifications or specific clinical interests are welcome to incorporate these into the service. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses, and psychiatric treatment, ensuring that best practice clinical interventions are provided to clients. • Liaise and confer regularly with general practitioners and other health care professionals. • Supervise and mentor medical students, junior doctors and training registrars. • Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to education, training and research projects relevant to the mental health service. • Participate in the on-call roster for the mental health team and the ECT roster.
