Description
We are a small, family-owned commercial construction company seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Construction Estimator. This role is hands-on and integral to our team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates while working closely with ownership, project managers, and field staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities • Review commercial construction plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors • Solicit, level, and manage subcontractor and supplier bids • Work directly with ownership to develop pricing strategies and bid proposals • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options • Assist with budgeting, preconstruction planning, and project handoff to operations • Maintain relationships with local subcontractors, vendors, and clients • Support project managers with cost tracking and change order pricing as needed • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and historical cost data • Occasionally visit job sites to better understand scope and conditions Qualifications • 7+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications • Exceptional computer skills (Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, etc.) • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment Work Environment • Office-based with occasional local job site visits • Collaborative, small-team setting with direct access to company leadership • Flexible but deadline-driven schedule, especially during bid periods Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary based on experience • Performance-based bonuses • Health benefits • 401k matching program • Paid time off and holidays • Opportunity for long-term growth within the company
