Job Description The Estimator supports business development efforts and helps identify new project opportunities while leading the accurate bidding and estimating of public and private heavy civil and road construction projects. The role requires strong estimating expertise, client relationship management, contract negotiation skills, and collaboration with project management and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery from bid through construction. The position is with a long-established regional construction and civil engineering contractor known for delivering infrastructure, highways, commercial, and public-sector projects. The company has a strong reputation for quality, safety, relationship-driven delivery, and long-term employee development within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Package & Benefits • Up to £65,000 basic salary • Company pension scheme • Private healthcare • Own transport required (mileage/expenses covered) Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic clients to secure new business opportunities. • Coordinate quantity takeoffs and support assistant estimators during bid preparation. • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates • Create and submit project-specific contract proposals. • Negotiate pricing, scope, and contract terms with clients. • Collaborate with Project Management and Operations teams to ensure project execution aligns with contract requirements. • Maintain records of change orders, extra work, and project modifications throughout construction. Key Requirements • 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil/road construction projects. • Experience with both public and private sector work. • Strong proficiency with estimating software and blueprint reading. • Proven business development and client relationship management experience. • Leadership experience mentoring or supervising junior estimators.
