Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced AML/CTF Compliance Officer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. Applicants must be currently based in Australia, as this role requires in-depth knowledge of Australian AML/CTF legislation, AUSTRAC requirements, and the local regulatory environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing and maintaining AML/CTF compliance programs, conducting customer due diligence, managing regulatory reporting, and ensuring compliance with Australian Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing obligations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical skills who can work independently while supporting compliance and risk management initiatives across the business.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and maintain compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing.
• Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Know Your Customer (KYC), ongoing customer due diligence, and customer risk assessments.
• Perform AML/CTF risk assessments for customers, products, services, and business activities.
• Review and investigate unusual or suspicious transactions and escalate matters where appropriate.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to AUSTRAC, including Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs), Threshold Transaction Reports (TTRs), and International Funds Transfer Instruction (IFTI) reports where required.
• Conduct sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening, and adverse media checks.
• Assist in developing, implementing, reviewing, and maintaining the organization's AML/CTF Program, policies, procedures, and controls.
• Conduct compliance monitoring, quality assurance reviews, and internal audits.
• Deliver AML/CTF guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and recommend updates to compliance frameworks.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders regarding AML/CTF compliance matters.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Law, Commerce, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an AML/CTF Compliance role.
• Must be currently residing in Australia with unrestricted Australian working rights.
• Demonstrated experience working within the Australian regulatory environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), AUSTRAC Rules, and associated regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, PEP screening, and transaction monitoring.
• Experience preparing and submitting AUSTRAC reports, including Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs), Threshold Transaction Reports (TTRs), and International Funds Transfer Instruction (IFTI) reports.
• Strong understanding of AML/CTF risk management frameworks, compliance monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
• Excellent analytical, investigative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience using AML compliance systems and screening platforms is highly preferred.
• CAMS, ACAMS, ICA, or other AML/CTF certifications are highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
