Community Outreach Social Care Worker Contract: Specified Purpose Contract – Maternity Leave Cover Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday Location: Waterford City & County About the Role We are recruiting an experienced and compassionate Community Outreach Social Care Worker to provide professional, trauma-informed and rights-based support to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence. This is a community-based position focused on promoting safety, empowerment and recovery. You will work directly with women, children and families, providing practical and emotional support while collaborating with statutory and community services to deliver a coordinated response. Key Responsibilities • Provide trauma-informed, family-focused support to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. • Conduct risk assessments and develop individualised risk management and safety plans. • Provide practical and emotional support through one-to-one sessions and tailored support plans. • Prioritise the safety and welfare of children and young people in line with Children First requirements. • Identify and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns relating to children and vulnerable adults. • Support service users with housing, homelessness prevention, social welfare and access to relevant services. • Provide appropriate legal information and referrals. • Advocate for service users when engaging with statutory, community and specialist agencies. • Facilitate support and recovery programmes for women affected by domestic abuse. • Deliver community awareness initiatives, workshops and training. • Build effective working relationships with relevant community and statutory services. • Maintain accurate records, statistics and reports while ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance. • Work independently in accordance with lone-working and safety procedures. • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, training and ongoing professional development. Essential Requirements • Honours degree in Social Care or equivalent. • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with families and children affected by domestic abuse. • Strong understanding of domestic violence, trauma and gender inequality. • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities under Children First. • Experience providing confidential, person-centred support. • Practical knowledge of housing, social welfare and relevant legal systems. • Strong risk assessment, safety planning and problem-solving skills. • Experience developing partnerships with other service providers. • Excellent communication, report-writing, organisational and planning skills. • Experience facilitating groups, programmes or educational sessions. • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. • Full driving licence and willingness to travel. Desirable Experience in community development, supporting marginalised communities, domestic violence-specific training and knowledge of local services would be advantageous.
