Responsibilities and Expectations
• Lead and execute advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on complex commercial HVAC equipment (5+ tons), including chillers, boilers, VRF systems, air handlers, and roof-top units (RTUs).
• Act as the senior technical resource for the commercial service team, providing expert guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Interpret and work from commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure compliant and effective repairs.
• Ensure all service work adheres strictly to local codes, EPA regulations (especially Section 608 for refrigerants), manufacturer specifications, and safety standards.
• Provide professional and clear communication to facility managers, building owners, and engineers regarding system status, complex repair options, and system efficiency recommendations.
• Utilize company-provided iPad and smartphone for efficient service documentation, time tracking, digital reporting, and professional communication.
• Ensure the company vehicle is fully stocked, organized, and properly maintained for complex commercial needs.
Requirements
• Required: 3-5 years of experience in Commercial HVAC service and repair.
• S-2 (Unlimited Heating, Piping & Cooling) or D-2 (Limited Warm Air, A/C, and Refrigeration) License is REQUIRED.
• Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of commercial jobs, performing high-level diagnostics, and leadership or mentoring.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial-grade HVAC systems, electrical schematics, controls (DDC), and refrigeration principles.
• Must hold a current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling.
• Proficiency with technology, including using an iPad and company smartphone for daily job management.
• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
