Description
Location: Lacey, WA Job Title: HVAC Service Technician Position Type: Full-Time / Regular Service Area: Port Townsend, Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Sequim Join a respected mechanical service team supporting commercial, institutional, and multi-site properties across Western Washington. Our client is a well-established mechanical services company known for keeping critical building systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This team supports a wide range of facilities with preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and system optimization. They are looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician who can troubleshoot with confidence, communicate professionally, and take real ownership of the work in the field. This is a strong fit for someone who values craftsmanship, works well independently, and also knows how to support the broader team. If you have solid service experience in HVAC and mechanical systems, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment, this opportunity offers long-term stability, strong support, and room to grow. Responsibilities and Expectations: • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, air handling, hydronic, and boiler systems. • Diagnose equipment issues in the field and complete safe, high-quality repairs with minimal supervision. • Start up equipment, test for leaks, recharge refrigerant, calibrate controls, and perform routine preventive maintenance. • Repair or replace components such as motors, controls, gauges, valves, pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, and compressors. • Measure, cut, and connect piping using appropriate brazing and welding methods when required. • Read blueprints, drawings, and job specifications to support service work, repairs, and installation activities. • Communicate effectively with dispatch to support scheduling, service updates, and field coordination. • Deliver professional customer support during service calls and dispatches while representing the company well on site. • Prepare accurate service notes, documentation, and client-facing estimates when needed. • Support apprentice development by sharing knowledge, coaching on best practices, and leading by example. • Assist with specialty refrigeration or related equipment assignments when applicable. • Follow safety expectations and maintain compliance with confined space, lift, and related job-site requirements. Requirements: • Trade certification required. • OSHA 10 required, OSHA 30 preferred. • 4-5 years of hands-on service experience in HVAC or a related mechanical service environment. • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair skills across a range of HVAC and mechanical systems. • Experience working in a customer-facing field service role with professional communication and sound time management. • Ability to take direction, manage priorities, and consistently meet service expectations and deadlines. • A team-first attitude, strong attention to detail, and pride in producing quality work. • Ability to mentor apprentices and contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous learning. • Chiller and cooling tower experience is a plus. • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. What Can We Do for You? • This position is compensated in accordance with the applicable Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Compensation is determined by the union pay scale and may vary based on factors such as union classification, experience, certifications, and other provisions outlined in the CBA. Because these variables can result in a broad pay range, a specific compensation range is not listed in the job posting. Candidates will be informed of the applicable pay rate during the hiring process once their qualifications and union classification have been determined. • Comprehensive benefits package. • 401(k) contributions. • An inclusive, team-oriented work environment. • A stable company culture with ongoing training and long-term growth opportunity. We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law. Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.
