Description
Job Title: Commercial HVAC and Plumbing Technician
Location: Huntingdon, PA
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Job Summary
D.C. Goodman & Sons is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in the sale, installation, and service of mechanical, heating, plumbing, electrical, and sprinkler systems for commercial and institutional clients. We're hiring an HVAC/Plumbing Technician to service, maintain, and repair commercial-grade systems — with regular preventive maintenance work, and occasional emergency service calls. Ideal candidates are comfortable working from blueprints on multi-trade job sites and are equally at home troubleshooting an existing system as they are running new piping, with hands-on commercial experience. Whether you're mid-level and ready to work semi-independently or an experienced journeyman capable of leading crews and responding to after-hours calls, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial/institutional buildings, plus install and retrofit work on new construction and renovation projects
• Respond to service and occasional emergency calls, diagnosing issues across heating, cooling, ventilation, water supply, and drainage systems and resolving them efficiently on-site
• Read and work from commercial mechanical blueprints and specs
• Run and connect piping (copper, PVC, steel)
• Work with commercial-grade equipment (rooftop units, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, larger-diameter piping, backflow prevention systems)
• Coordinate on-site with other trades (electrical, sheet metal, fire protection)
• Document service and maintenance work, pull permits as required, and communicate directly with facility managers at client sites to keep their systems running
• Support fire sprinkler-adjacent mechanical work as needed
Qualifications
Required:
• HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship or trade/technical school (1-2 yrs) plus field experience
• Hands-on commercial HVAC/plumbing experience (entry-level apprentices willing to train also considered)
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Preferred:
• 3-5+ years of experience for lead technician/crew training roles, including experience being on-call for emergency service
• Backflow prevention certification
• Comfort reading and interpreting commercial mechanical blueprints and specs
• Experience working alongside multiple trades on active job sites, and directly with facility managers on ongoing service accounts
