This role supports the manufacturing and refurbishment of critical gas turbine rotor components that help generate power worldwide. As a CNC Vertical Boring Machinist, you'll work on large, complex components requiring precision machining, advanced setups, and strict adherence to quality standards. --- The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: • Set up and operate large CNC Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs) • Machine gas turbine rotor components and other large power generation parts • Select tooling, fixtures, rotary tables, and workholding solutions • Load, run, and monitor CNC machining programs • Perform machine setups and adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements • Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment • Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections • Maintain tolerance and surface finish requirements on large-diameter components • Safely handle large workpieces using overhead cranes and forklifts • Complete quality documentation and production records • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S continuous improvement initiatives --- Machines, Controls & Software You'll work with equipment such as: Machines • CNC Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs) • Large-Part Machining Equipment • Rotary Tables and Specialized Fixtures Controls • Siemens Controls • FANUC Controls Material Handling • Overhead Cranes • Critical Lift Equipment • Fork Trucks Inspection Equipment • Micrometers • Bore Gauges • Dial Indicators • Precision Measuring Instruments --- Materials You'll Work With • Gas turbine rotor components • Steam turbine components • Large forgings • Alloy steels • Power generation equipment --- What We're Looking For Required • Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience operating boring mills or similar heavy machining equipment • Experience with Siemens and/or FANUC controls • High School Diploma or GED • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T requirements • Experience performing machine setups and tooling adjustments • Strong precision measurement and inspection skills • Ability to maintain tight tolerances on large components • Ability to obtain Fork Truck certification • Ability to obtain Critical Lift (B+) crane certification • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to obtain ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate (Silver Level or higher) Preferred • Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) experience • Large-diameter machining experience • Gas turbine, steam turbine, aerospace, or heavy industrial machining experience • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S initiatives • Experience machining large forgings and rotor components --- Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Siemens Energy because: • Opportunity to machine massive, high-value turbine components • Modern CNC equipment and advanced manufacturing technology • Climate-controlled manufacturing environment • Stable workload supporting critical energy infrastructure • Strong safety culture • Career growth and advancement opportunities • Relocation assistance available nationwide • Plant bonus opportunities • Global company with long-term career stability --- Pay, Benefits & Schedule Sign-On Bonus $5,000 Sign-On Bonus • $2,000 after 3 months • $3,000 after 9 months (Employee must remain actively employed and in good standing at payout dates.)
