Our client is a well-respected claimant practice with offices nationwide. They are currently recruiting for multiple clinical negligence solicitors or chartered legal executives of all levels to join on a largely home-working basis. Your new role
These Clinical Negligence solicitor/CILEx roles will see you:
• Manage a claimant clinical negligence caseload, with claim value, complexity, and level of autonomy determined by PQE and demonstrated capability
• Conduct day‑to‑day case handling from initial instruction through to resolution, including pre‑action, litigation, and settlement stages
• Assess liability, breach of duty, causation, and quantum, providing clear and realistic advice to clients throughout the lifecycle of the claim
• Draft and respond to key legal documentation, including Letters of Claim, schedules of loss, pleadings, and witness statements
• Instruct and liaise with medical experts, counsel, and other professionals to support case progression.
• Progress claims in a proactive, timely, and cost‑effective manner in line with the Pre‑Action Protocol for Clinical Disputes
• Negotiate settlements where appropriate and prepare matters for litigation, ADR, or trial as required.
• Maintain high standards of client care, communication, compliance, and accurate time recording
What you'll need to succeed
ESSENTIAL :
• Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive (NQ+)
• Previous experience handling your own caseload or assisting on clinical negligence matters.
• Working knowledge of the Pre‑Action Protocol for the Resolution of Clinical Disputes and relevant court procedures
• Ability to analyse breach of duty, causation, and quantum in clinical negligence claims
• Experience drafting key legal documentation, including Letters of Claim and other pre‑action correspondence
• Strong case management skills with the ability to progress claims proactively and efficiently
• Excellent client care and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and medical issues clearly
• Effective organisational and time‑management skills, including accurate time recording and file management
DESIRABLE :
• Experience managing higher‑value or complex clinical negligence claims, including catastrophic injury cases
• Previous experience conducting litigation, including drafting pleadings and managing cases through to settlement or trial
• Experience instructing and liaising with medical experts, chambers, and counsel
• Confidence in negotiating settlements and resolving claims through ADR where appropriate
• Familiarity with costs budgeting, schedules of loss, and funding arrangements
• Experience working within a claimant‑focused clinical negligence team
• Willingness to contribute to business development, knowledge sharing, or mentoring of junior colleagues
