Optima Dermatology is recruiting an experienced Clinical Lead / Medical Assistant to join our growing Dermatology and Medical Aesthetics group in Mentor, OH & Independence, OH.

Job Overview:
The Clinical Lead position is fulfilled by a Medical Assistant or LPN/RN who provides day-to-day leadership to the clinical team, while performing the job functions of a medical assistant.
During clinical time, the Clinical Lead not only delivers direct patient care but also steps in to assist teams that are behind, provides coverage when short-staffed, supports front office functions as needed, and serves as a backup clinical preceptor to assist with onboarding and training.
The Clinical Lead plays a key leadership role in the clinic, acting as the on-site lead when the Practice Manager is not present. They work closely with the Practice Manager to identify and execute on specific clinic needs and will function under the direction and supervision of a licensed provider, reporting directly to the Practice Manager.
Responsibilities:
The following is an overview of the essential job functions and responsibilities, this may not be an all-encompassing list:
Perform patient intake and Acts as a medical scribe for the provider: providing accurate and consistent documentation of the visit findings, including patient care instructions, prescriptions, ordering tests.
Assists physicians and other providers with patient procedures such as: Surgical preparation, Skin biopsies, suture removal, minor surgeries, obtaining specimen by noninvasive procedures, administering injections, performing basic laboratory tests, Preparation and reconstitution of medications as needed
Prepares specimens to be analyzed by an outside lab by packaging specimen appropriately, completing requisition form and contacting testing facility as necessary. Will also complete lab duties as applicable for patient care and/or compliance
Prepares exam rooms for patient use by cleaning/disinfecting the rooms between patients and ensuring that each room is stocked with the appropriate supplies. Prepares procedure trays as necessary and will prepare/maintain medical instruments and equipment per CLIA requirements.
Performs administrative duties as needed to support patient care: Schedules on-site and off‑site diagnostic tests, facilitates referrals to outside physicians, prepares and forwards pertinent medical records and test results.
Works independently to obtain results and records from outside sources, contact pharmacies and insurance companies to authorize prescriptions.
Contacts patients to relay test result information and return patients phone calls with the physician's recommendations for their care in a timely manner
Assists in maintaining inventory, unpacking and storage of supplies and medications
Performs all duties respectful of confidentiality and safety of all patients, employees, and physicians.
Communicates with the physician and Practice manager on all issues that are vital to the improvement and continued success of the practice.
Follow all HIPAA guidelines and comply with all annual training and competency requirements. Understands and operates within the associated scope of practice as outlined by company and state applicable guidelines.
Maintains compliance with attendance requirements and policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Assist with daily office cleaning/maintenance as needed including, but not limited to, laundry, dusting, floor sweeping etc.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Higher education preferred.
