Description Clinic Medical Assistant - Full Time Job Type F/T Odessa, WA • Rural Health Clinic Description Medical Assistant: Our mission at Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center is to bring caring, quality healthcare to our community. The following values serve as the root of our mission, and are what we believe to be key in driving our vision: Clinical Duties: • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examinations/procedures by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and ensuring patient comfort. • Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy and collect other specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and handling. • Prepare and perform waived lab testing. • Medication Administration: Administer medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers, following safety protocols. • Assistance During Procedures: Assist healthcare practitioners during examinations and minor surgical procedures. • Call patients with results from labs and other studies after the provider has reviewed the results. • Equipment Sterilization: Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness in examination rooms. • Document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record. Administrative Duties: • Appointment Scheduling: Manage patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of clinic resources. • Referral Management: takes steps to complete referrals to specialist providers and notifies patient of progress and coordinates with patient to make appointments at specialist provider’s office. • Medical Records Management: Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records (EHRs) in compliance with HIPAA regulations. • Billing and Coding Front Office Facing: Assist with billing processes, including coding for insurance claims and patient billing inquiries. • Patient Communication: Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and preventive healthcare practices Competencies: • Clinical Proficiency: Competence in clinical procedures and medical terminology. • Technical Skills: Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications. Requirements Requirements Education & Experience: • Educational Background: Completion of an accredited medical assisting program. • Experience: Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred, especially within a Rural Health Clinic. Licensing & Certifications: • Preferred: Hold an active Medical Assistant-Certified credential issued by the Washington State Department of Health. • Medical Assistant- Registered should have a plan to become certified within 6 months of hire date. • CPR Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
