Civil / Land Development Group Manager – North Carolina
Join the Civil Site/ Land Development team at Benesch and help advance our goal of building connected, sustainable communities through thoughtful land development, community infrastructure, and recreation improvements across the Carolinas and the Southeast. Our team delivers high impact work in municipal infrastructure, educational campus development, and commercial site design. From greenways and parks to K-12 campuses, university facilities, mixed use developments, and healthcare projects, our team leads civil site design that shapes how communities grow.
When joining out team you will work closely with a collaborative group that supports planning, layout, SD/DD/CD design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration for a wide range of public and private clients. You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership for our North Carolina practice including, guiding multidisciplinary teams, strengthening key client relationships, and supporting business development efforts. You will work closely with internal partners in landscape architecture, planning, transportation, structures, and more, leveraging the expertise of 1200+ Benesch professionals.
This role is ideal for a senior leader who thrives in collaborative, growth-oriented environments and has a desire to influence both project delivery and long-term strategy. Reporting directly to the Division Manager, you will have a clear path for leadership advancement within an employee-owned firm celebrating 80 years of impact. Location
This full-time hybrid role is based in our Charlotte office, with in-office collaboration expected at least three days per week.
Required Qualifications
Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina (or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 3 months)
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience
Significant experience leading civil site and land development projects for public and/or private sector clients
Demonstrated success developing client relationships and winning new work
Strong understanding of North Carolina regulatory agencies and permitting processes
Expertise in project financial management, budgeting, QA/QC, and resource planning
Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams
