Current County of Kaua'i employees, must apply on the Internal Career Site by clicking on this link Job Title: Civil Engineer II Salary Range: N/A Position Salary: 6,221.00 USD Monthly Location: Various Civil Service or Non Civil Servic e: Civil Service Job Summary: Does routine professional engineering work requiring some judgment and experience in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of civil engineering projects; assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required. Examples of Duties: ( The following are examples of duties and are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in this class. The omission of specific duties statements does not preclude management from assigning such duties if such duties are a logical assignment for the position ). • Assists in making preliminary and final surveys, reduces and plots survey notes and prepares mass diagrams; • Computes vertical and horizontal curves and earthwork quantities; • Assists in the design of reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, cultures, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways and other concrete, steel, and timber structures by developing details, checking computations, and preparing final working drawing, reinforcing steel details and material schedules; • Assists in the preparation of specifications and cost estimates and interprets plans and specifications; • Makes field engineering inspections and tests construction materials; • Computes lot closures and areas, makes land use studies, and assists in the preparation of hydrologic studies; • Computes extensions and adjustments to a triangulation system, computes data, prepares maps and checks plans; • Serves as chief of party or design squad leader and supervise personnel in subprofessional level work; and • Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering; and • one (1) year of professional civil engineering experience.
