Role Overview Develop and validate mental-health and child-safety evaluation frameworks that help AI systems detect, assess, and respond to online harm affecting young people. This remote contractor role focuses on creating clinical-grade taxonomies, detection criteria, and escalation protocols for self-harm, suicide risk, eating disorders, and related vulnerabilities in digital environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design comprehensive taxonomies for self-harm, suicide prevention, eating disorders, and emotional dependency in online contexts.
• Define best-practice standards for digital support and clinical safety for adolescents and youth.
• Create detection and flagging frameworks to identify potentially harmful content or advice aimed at minors.
• Develop and refine clinical response rubrics and escalation protocols for at-risk individuals interacting in digital environments.
• Provide subject-matter input on CSAM-adjacent policy issues and online exploitation dynamics to strengthen child safety measures.
• Collaborate with project leads to ensure evaluation benchmarks reflect current research and clinical best practices.
• Deliver clear, actionable written and verbal feedback that shapes ongoing development of AI safety tools and evaluation frameworks.
• Apply domain expertise to help train next-generation AI systems; prior AI experience is not required.
Qualifications
• Licensed therapist, psychiatrist, clinician, or other mental-health professional with direct crisis-care experience preferred.
• At least 5+ years of focused work in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, eating-disorder intervention, or closely related fields; 8 to 20 years of experience welcomed for senior contributors.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical risk assessment and intervention in digital or online settings.
• Advanced degree, specialized certification, or equivalent operational experience in mental-health or child safety domains.
• Experience evaluating or implementing CSAM-adjacent policies, or working on child online exploitation prevention initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proven credibility and a track record of impact in clinical, crisis-response, or safety-evaluation communities.
• Core subject-matter areas include child safety, CSAM-adjacent policy, teen safety, crisis care, and youth mental health.
