Description
Light House Studio is hiring a Creative Director in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the position is open now. The Creative Director will lead the visual and conceptual direction of studio productions, overseeing creative output across development, pre-production, and principal photography to ensure a unified aesthetic across all project deliverables. This role suits an experienced creative professional with a background in film or television production who is comfortable owning the creative vision from pitch through final cut. About the Role The Creative Director sits at the intersection of development and production at Light House Studio, working directly with directors, producers, and department heads to shape the look and feel of each project. Day-to-day work includes reviewing treatments and scripts, guiding visual references and mood boards, and maintaining creative continuity across production and post-production workflow. This person is expected to be a hands-on creative lead, not an oversight-only role. Key Responsibilities • Establish and maintain the visual and narrative direction across all active productions at the studio, from development through picture lock. • Collaborate with directors of photography and production designers to align camera, lighting, and art department choices with the overall creative vision. • Review and give notes on cuts during post-production, working alongside editors to preserve tonal consistency through the editorial process. • Lead creative presentations to clients, producers, and stakeholders, translating the studio's vision into clear and actionable direction. • Develop visual identities and style guides for individual projects, including references for color palette, typography, and motion graphics where applicable. • Oversee the work of junior creatives and department leads to ensure all creative deliverables meet production standards and project-specific requirements. What You Bring • Minimum five years of credited experience in a senior creative role within film, television, or commercial production. • A portfolio demonstrating creative leadership across multiple production types, including narrative film or episodic television. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with standard post-production workflow tools used across picture and finishing. • Strong understanding of visual storytelling, including composition, color theory, and how those principles translate from pre-production into the final cut. • Experience working directly with directors and producers on feature film production or long-form content at a studio or production company level. Why This Role Light House Studio is an active production studio based in Charlottesville with a working slate and a team that treats creative leadership as a core function, not a support role. This is a paid position with compensation provided upfront or during production, in line with Virginia Film Office posting standards. For a Creative Director looking to take ownership of a studio's creative output in a real production environment, this is a role with genuine scope. Apply now for the Creative Director position at Light House Studio and bring your production experience to a studio that is actively making work.
