Description
Are you curious about biodynamic champagne making ? Understand how the wine making process begins by immersing yourself into the world of Champagne Franck PASCAL. Since 2002, we've been producing biodynamic champagnes and started no sulfite winemaking in 2008. Naturally made, theses Champagnes are rated between 92 to 96 by internationally reputed tasters. During your stay with us, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy these exquisite champagnes while discovering a new cuvée every day. The meticulous efforts of our team throughout the year in our vineyard culminate during harvest time to create theses remarkable vintages. We are seeking curious and wine passionate pickers who are willing to adapt their work to this upcoming vintage. First part: (95% of your time) • You'll pick and sort grapes • You will have two breaks (morning and afternoon) for a short "casse-croûte" in the vineyard • Your priority will be to obtain the best grapes on time for the press Note: this work is particularly physical , especially when the weather is rainy. That's why you have to be in shape and strong mentally to meet this challenge. Small advice -> use the breaks to stretch your back and relax) Second part: learning about the process • Get an overview of the entire champagne making process: During a visit of the cellar and the facilities, you will understand why it takes so many years from harvest till the moment when you enjoy your glass of champagne. • You can participate once in filling the press with freshly picked grapes • You can taste the fleshly pressed juice from each grape variety When ? Regarding the past grape flowering period, we anticipate that the harvest could begin around 25th August. Please note that we depend on the climate, the dates may change, we only indicate a probability. The date could change by + or - 5 days. We will confirm them as soon as possible. Duration : 7 to 10 days on end - That means there is no day off. Regarding Wages : French rules are slightly complex, so here is the law, and I’ll translate it in what will be in your pocket at the end ;-) Gross wage is an equivalent of 2.000 € for 35 hours working per week. As we usually work all week long during harvest to get the grapes at their best, you'll work more than 35 hours. The worked hours from the 35th to the 43rd will be paid 25% more. Work on sunday, and work over 43rd hour is paid 50% more. You'll get a 10% added salary as a compensation for paid leave. There is also a legal 10% more salary only when you stay from the first day till the last day. As an example, imagine we harvest 7 days and you work 8 hours per day, everyday. Your net salary (i mean in your pocket at the end) will be roughly 960 € to 1020 €, with no food charge and no accommodation charge. Conditions to apply: • English spoken • WSET level 2 and more • People who do not have the nationality of a member country of the European Union must already be equipped with a visa allowing to work in France (student visa, resident card...) • To be available for the entire duration of the harvest. If you're ready for a once in a life-time experience in Champagne, we will warmly welcome you in our vendangeoir to join our international team.
