Proud to be part of the Cabot Learning Federation Trust having joined in the Summer of 2023. The school provides education for pupils from KS1-3 who require additional support around their behaviour. School governors offer key strategic guidance, rather than getting involved in the operational aspects of a school. This involves working with other board members to plan the school’s strategic direction, overseeing the school’s financial performance to ensure money is well-spent, and holding the headteacher or school leadership to account. As chair of governors, you’ll lead the governing board in challenging existing processes and driving school improvement. You’ll typically attend around six meetings per year. While leading a board requires drive and commitment, you’ll enjoy many professional and personal rewards, including career development opportunities and the chance to support young people’s futures. What are the benefits? Serving as a school governor is a highly rewarding experience, offering numerous personal and professional benefits. These include: the chance to experience board-level leadership at any point in your career, to support your progression; the opportunity to develop and improve your technical and interpersonal skills; building professional networks with people who work within the same and different industries as yourself; using your lived experience and skills to bring a fresh perspective; and ensuring voices from different groups and communities are represented – including voices from groups that may often struggle to be heard within education.
