Northland Fleet Services is a long-term member of LaPrairie Group of Companies. For over 35 years, LaPrairie Group of Companies has provided the mining and resource industries in Tumbler Ridge and surrounding area with a variety of services - cranes, trucking, mining, heavy equipment and light vehicle repairs and maintenance. We are looking to hire a full-time Certified Automotive Mechanic, 3rd /4th Year Apprentice to join our growing team in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. Rotational opportunities with provided accommodations are available for qualified candidates not residing in Tumbler Ridge. As a Certified Automotive Mechanic, 3rd /4th Year Apprentice, you will be responsible for inspecting equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to a diversified fleet. Responsibilities: • Maintain service operations by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various pieces of equipment, including gas, diesel, light and heavy-duty units. • Complete maintenance and repairs as required. • Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles. • Test, measure, and verify gas component operations. • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting tests as required, including test drives, adjusting controls and systems, pressure tests. • Operate / diagnose engines powered by diesel or gasoline. • Consult with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed. • Adhere to company policies and procedures. • Remain current with federal, provincial, and local codes and regulations and perform duties in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act/Code. • Ensure that required tools, parts and supplies are available for each job performed. • Complete required service and equipment performance reports as required. • Other duties shall be assigned as required. Desired skills and Experience: • Ford certified experience is preferred. • At least 3 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic. • Registered in apprenticeship program. • Must have a Class 5 driver’s license at minimum – Class 3 preferred – and a CVIP license. • Strong understanding of computer testing and diagnostic technologies. • Ability to lift heavy machinery. • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment. • Welding and cutting abilities. • Ability to work after-hours if required. • Good communication skills.
