Location: Brentwood, Essex Pay Rate: From £13.53 per hour (depending on experience) Job Type: Seasonal Position with Potential Temp-to-Perm Opportunity Hours: Full-time About the Role We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Cemetery Operative to join our client’s team based in Brentwood. This is a physically demanding outdoor role that plays an important part in maintaining cemetery grounds to a high standard while supporting burial operations with professionalism and respect. The position is initially seasonal to support the busy summer period, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities • Assisting with the preparation, excavation, and reinstatement of burial plots. • Operating mini diggers and other grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively. • Carrying out general grounds maintenance duties including: • Grass cutting and mowing • Strimming • Hedge trimming • Leaf and debris blowing • General landscaping and upkeep • Ensuring cemetery grounds are maintained to a high standard at all times. • Assisting with grave preparation and backfilling operations. • Maintaining equipment and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements. • Working respectfully around visitors, funeral services, and memorial areas. • Following all health and safety procedures. Requirements • Previous experience operating a mini digger is essential. • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a similar outdoor environment. • Confident using strimmers, blowers, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment. • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Strong work ethic with a respectful and professional approach. • Full UK driving licence preferred.
