Job Summary
The Caster Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of casting equipment used to produce metal strip according to quality, production, and safety standards. This position monitors casting processes, performs equipment adjustments, conducts quality inspections, and works closely with maintenance, quality, and production teams to ensure continuous operation and product conformity.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate casting machines and associated equipment in accordance with established work instructions and safety procedures.
• Set up, start up, and shut down casting equipment as required.
• Monitor machine performance, process parameters, and product quality throughout production runs.
• Inspect cast strip using gauges, measuring devices, and visual inspection techniques.
• Identify and report defects, equipment malfunctions, and process abnormalities.
• Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain quality and production standards.
• Remove scrap material and segregate nonconforming product according to procedures.
• Complete production, quality, and downtime documentation accurately and timely.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and assist maintenance personnel during repairs and troubleshooting.
• Follow all safety requirements, including LOTO and PPE requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications & Skills
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months – 1 year of manufacturing experience
• Caster operator/foundry experience preferred.
• Experience operating industrial machinery preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and quality specifications.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to identify quality defects and process deviations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8–12 hours per shift
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach and climb ladders for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
• Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling, and operating equipment and tools
• Ability to visually inspect tools and equipment
• Ability to hear and respond to machine sounds, alarms, and verbal instructions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, vibration, and varying temperatures
• Ability to work safely in environments with elevated temperatures for extended periods.
• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust, vibration, and moving machinery.
• Regular exposure to heat generated by casting equipment, molten materials, furnaces, and production processes.
• Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions while maintaining productivity and adherence to safety standards.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
