Organization Reports to the Staff Captain. Authority Delegated authority by Staff Captain to execute assigned responsibilities. Functions and Responsibility The Carpenter functions and responsibility shall include, but not be limited to: ▪ To assist the Staff Captain in the planning and execution of maintenance tasks. ▪ To familiarize himself with regulations and work procedures pertaining to tasks to be executed. ▪ To ensure that critical or special work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work, and work aloft is not undertaken without inspection, approval and issue of work permit signed by the Staff Captain and Master. ▪ To execute assigned tasks in conformance with safe work procedures in accordance with given instructions. ▪ To keep all tools, equipment, and stores in good order, keeping inventory records of stores and tools, advising the Staff Captain of any purchasing needs. ▪ Maintenance of maintenance and general repair of all furniture and carpeting on board the ship, as well as providing minor refurbishment’s and carpentry solutions for individual problem areas within all ship’s Divisions. ▪ Maintenance of outside teak decks, step, ramp, and pool/Jacuzzi areas. ▪ Replenishment of the ship’s supply of potable water while in port, observing correct filling procedures and maintaining of horses / connections are in accordance with Sanitation rules. ▪ Participate in the ship’s stand-by prior to every arrival, departure or any other situation, as required by Staff Captain. ▪ To always use the correct PPE equipment provided in the daily operations. ▪ To advise the Staff Captain of potential hazards, deficiencies, and non-conformances observed. ▪ To advise the Staff Captain of completed jobs and outstanding details, if any. ▪ Read and understand the Material Data Safety Sheets, which describe how to use Chemicals and what to do in case of a chemical emergency, splashing in eyes, or ingestion. STCW II/2 - Master Seaman's book Valid Passport Medical Certificate International Certificate of Vaccination Certificate of Competence II/5 "Basic Safety that includes: Personal survival techniques Personal safety and social responsibilities Elementary first aid Fire prevention and fire fighting" Proficiency in survival craft/rescue boats Advanced fire-fighting Crowd management Crisis management and human behaviour ISPS Security Designated duties Previous experience in passenger ships Excellent command of the English language*
