Location: Valparaiso, FL Job Type: Full-Time We are looking for a Career Specialist which you will play a vital role in empowering members of our local community to overcome employment barriers and build brighter futures. Working directly out of our Valparaiso center, you will deliver personal career counseling, facilitate essential skill workshops, and forge strong connections with local employers to help job seekers secure sustainable, meaningful employment. Core Responsibilities • Career Coaching & Assessment: Deliver individualized and group coaching to evaluate participants' skills, qualifications, and employment goals while identifying key barriers to success. • Skill Development & Facilitation: Lead engaging workshops on resume building, interview techniques, basic digital literacy, and workplace soft skills. • Employer Engagement & Job Placement: Build and maintain active relationships with Valparaiso-area businesses to uncover job leads and successfully match clients with local job opportunities. • Case Management & Tracking: Maintain precise, timely case notes, track participant progress, and submit routine reports aligned with organizational guidelines. • Mission Advocacy: Serve as a dedicated advocate for individuals facing employment obstacles, upholding Goodwill’s mission every day. Qualifications & Experience • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. (An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.) • Experience: Prior experience in case management, career counseling, workforce development, job coaching, or human resources is highly valued. • Key Skills: Strong active listening, clear verbal and written communication, empathy, and comfort navigating basic computer platforms and databases. • Mission Focus: A deep commitment to assisting individuals with disabilities and distinct barriers to employment.
