Hartley People Recruitment , along with our successful client, are seeking a Buyer to manage day-to-day purchasing and stores operations on-site. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position where attention to detail, strong communication, and proactive problem-solving are key. Working closely with purchasing and engineering teams, you’ll help maintain high standards, meet performance targets, and drive continuous improvement Key Responsibilities: • Manage procurement activities, ensuring timely and accurate order processing. • Maintain and organise stores, including booking in, labelling, and locating items. • Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts, reporting any variances. • Support the customer’s purchasing and engineering teams to meet agreed KPIs. • Participate in meetings, training, and performance reviews as required. • Generate reports and maintain documentation to required standards. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service. • Ensure all health, safety, and quality procedures are followed The Person Skills & Experience: • Previous experience in a purchasing, stores, or materials management role. • Strong knowledge of stock control, ERP systems, and procurement processes. • Proficiency in Excel (including V-lookups and data reporting). • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines. • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy Competencies: • Customer Focus: Committed to meeting and exceeding service standards. • Problem Solving: Able to identify issues, implement corrective actions, and deliver results. • Judgment & Initiative: Takes ownership and makes sound decisions. • Continuous Improvement: Actively seeks ways to improve processes and performance. • Teamwork & Communication: Works effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
