About Us
If you’ve ever spotted one of our big green welfare units out on site — that’s us!
At Welfare Hire, we provide high-quality welfare units that keep infrastructure projects across the UK running safely, comfortably, and sustainably. Each unit comes fully equipped with toilets, kitchens, and eco-power from generators and solar panels.
When something goes wrong (because even the best kit has its moments), that’s where you come in.
The Role
As a Breakdown Controller, you’ll be the first point of contact when our customers need support.
One minute you might be dispatching an engineer to site; the next, you’re guiding a customer through a quick generator reset or organising a replacement kettle. You’ll use your organisation skills, customer focus, and calm-under-pressure approach to make sure our clients stay up and running with minimal downtime.

• Schedule jobs to ensure urgent tasks are prioritised and routes are efficient
• Keep customers updated on progress and resolution times
• Use telemetry alarms to identify and prevent potential issues before they cause breakdowns
• Work with other departments to raise purchase orders, manage recharges, and handle billing queries
• Maintain accurate records in Syrinx
• Represent Welfare Hire with professionalism and a positive attitude at all times
What you’ll bring
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Confidence with Microsoft Office
• Experience in customer service (breakdown or dispatch experience is a bonus)
• A calm, proactive approach when working under pressure
Benefits
• Competitive salary and bonus scheme
• Company pension and life insurance
• Health and wellbeing programme
• Cycle-to-work scheme
• Employee and store discounts
• Additional leave and sick pay
• Free on-site parking
• Supportive team culture with opportunities for growth
