Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading environmental services company looking to add a BioSafety Consultant to their team. You will define project objectives, engage stakeholders to assess client needs, create clear and actionable reports, and present insights and strategic recommendations to laboratory management and EHS leaders. The Role: • Conduct investigations into exposure incidents, laboratory spills, sharps-related injuries, and containment breaches or near misses; determine underlying causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans, including required regulatory reporting. • Develop and maintain required biosafety and regulatory documentation, including risk assessments, incident and exposure reports, biosafety cabinet records, and OSHA bloodborne pathogen compliance documentation. • Evaluate laboratory and animal research environments for adherence to biosafety regulations and best practices, identify gaps, and provide documented corrective action recommendations. • Review laboratory containment controls by observing work practices and engaging with research personnel to evaluate biosafety cabinet usage, personal protective equipment selection, sharps safety, decontamination methods, and biohazardous waste management. The Candidate: • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry, or Engineering. • Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment. • 1-5 years of progressive experience supporting biosafety initiatives, research compliance programs, laboratory operations, or environmental health and safety functions with a focus on biological risk management. • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
