BIOPOLIS 2026-28 - Research Grant (BI) Job description: Position: Research Grant (BI) Reference: BIOPOLIS 2026-28 Scientific Area: Natural Resources and Sustainability A call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant (BI) for a Master's degree holder (Reference BIOPOLIS 2026-28) within the scope of the project AlienSMART – WebGIS decision-support system to support the reporting and management of invasive alien species, supported by operation no. 16009 (COMPETE2030-FEDER-00714900), co-financed by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under Portugal 2030 and the European Union. FCT grant reference: 2023.17547.ICDT. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support in the tasks of the AlienSMART project: 1. communication, dissemination and capacity-building of relevant stakeholders; 2. data harmonisation and design of the workflow for modelling (national scale) and detection (regional scale) of invasive alien species; 3. experimentation with stakeholder participation. Admission Requirements: Students enrolled in a study cycle leading to a PhD degree in Biology or related areas, preferably with previous experience in coordinating communication and capacity-building plans, organising and publishing socio-ecological databases, and experience in organising and facilitating events with stakeholders. Academic degrees obtained abroad must be recognised by a competent Portuguese institution, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August, this requirement being mandatory at the date of contractualisation of the grant. Specific Requirements: • Proven experience in the development of outreach materials: websites, communication materials, social media management, newsletters, etc. • Proven experience in the coordination and development of communication plans. • Proven experience in the coordination and development of capacity-building plans. • Proven skills in the organisation and publication of socio-ecological databases. • Proven collaboration with private sector institutions / public institutions / NGOs. • Experience in the preparation and submission of scientific articles (as an author). • Mandatory fluency in Portuguese and English. The candidate must be able to work well in a team and possess problem-solving skills. The candidate must present a CV compatible with the work plan. Work Plan: Within the scope of the grant, the following tasks will be developed: • Support in the development of the communication, dissemination and capacity-building plan (Task 1). • Support in the management of the project's social media. • Compilation and harmonisation of geographic biodiversity and socio-ecological data (ISO 19157/19158; ISO 19115/19119). • Organisation and facilitation of meetings and workshops with stakeholders. • Support for data analysis activities, report preparation and dissemination of results. Legislation: Research Fellow Statute (Law no. 40/2004 of 18 August, in its current wording); Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (Regulation no. 950/2019 of 16 December, with the amendments in force); and Administrative Procedure Code. Location: The work will be carried out at CIBIO-Biopolis, Vairão, Vila do Conde. Duration: 12 months. Monthly Maintenance Allowance: The monthly grant amounts to €1,369.54 in accordance with the grants established by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf). Payment is made monthly by bank transfer. Personal accident insurance and reimbursement of the Voluntary Social Security contribution are also included. Start Date: 1 September 2026. Selection Criteria: The evaluation will be based on the following criteria: A. Relevance of previous experience related to the tasks of the work plan (80%); B. Quality of the curriculum vitae (20%). The final classification (FC) will be expressed on a scale of 0 to 100, calculated by the formula: FC = 0.80 × A + 0.20 × B. The jury may decide not to award the grant if the quality of the candidates is below the required standard. In the case of candidates whose final classification does not differ by more than 10% from that obtained by the highest-ranked candidate, the jury may proceed with an interview. The interview is intended to obtain additional clarifications on the curricular elements presented and to assess the candidate's profile, motivation and suitability for the work plan. Jury: The Jury will be chaired by Dr. Joana Vicente (CIBIO), with Dr. Miguel Carretero (CIBIO) and Dr. João Gonçalves (CIBIO) as effective members. Os graus académicos obtidos em país estrangeiro carecem de reconhecimento por instituição portuguesa competente, nos termos do Decreto-Lei n.º 66/2018, de 16 de agosto, sendo este requisito obrigatório à data de contratualização da bolsa. Requisitos específicos: • Experiência comprovada no desenvolvimento de elementos de divulgação: websites, materiais de comunicação, gestão de redes sociais, newsletters etc. • Experiência comprovada na coordenação e desenvolvimento de planos de comunicação. • Experiência comprovada na coordenação e desenvolvimento de planos de capacitação. • Competências comprovadas na organização e publicação de bases de dados socioecológicos. • Colaboração comprovada com instituições do setor privado/ público / ONGs. • Experiência na preparação e submissão artigos científicos (como autora). • Fluência obrigatória em português e inglês. O candidato deve ser capaz de trabalhar bem em equipa e possuir capacidades de resolução de problemas. O candidato deve apresentar um CV compatível com o plano de trabalho. Plano de Trabalhos: No âmbito da bolsa, serão desenvolvidas as seguintes tarefas: 1. Apoio no desenvolvimento do plano de comunicação, disseminação e capacitação (Tarefa 1) 2. Apoio na gestão das redes sociais do projeto. 3. Compilação e harmonização de dados geográficos de biodiversidade e socioecológicos (ISO 19157/19158; ISO 19115/19119) 4. Organização e dinamização de reuniões e workshops com stakeholders 5. Apoio às atividades de análise de dados, elaboração de relatórios e divulgação de resultados.
