Description
Billboard is seeking a highly creative, music-obsessed Director of Branded Content to join our Brand Studio team. This role will lead the development and execution of custom content across video, live event and talent-driven partnerships for world-class brand partners and help shape the creative and stylistic vision of our work.
The ideal candidate is equal parts producer, storyteller, creative director and strategist — someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, is tapped into culture and can bring premium, visually stunning content to life across platforms on screen and IRL.
This role will oversee branded content production from ideation through execution, while also leading the Brand Studio’s creative vision across custom programs and tentpole initiatives.
Reporting to the SVP, Brand Studio & Partnerships, this position will collaborate closely with internal creative, editorial, social, video, events, sales, and partnership teams, as well as external talent teams, production partners and freelance creatives. This position is being offered in our New York City or Los Angeles office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with sales and strategy teams on pre-sale creative development, including brainstorms, pitch ideation, talent recommendations, sponsorship concepts and budget planning for multi-platform programs valued at $10MM+.
Lead development and pre-production for sold programs, including creative treatments, social concepting, talent integration, event activations and production planning
Oversee end-to-end creative execution across branded video, social and live event content, including on-set production, post-production workflows, and experiential support
Provide overarching creative direction across branded content work to ensure a cohesive, premium brand vision
Develop innovative, social-first creative strategies designed to maximize audience engagement, cultural relevance and platform performance
Lead talent partnerships and bookings, including negotiations, logistics, and fulfillment of partnership deliverables and entitlements
Review and refine treatments, scripts, copy, video cuts, and presentation materials with a strong editorial eye for clarity, tone, and polish
Excellent live presentation skills, and the ability to get partners excited and aligned with your creative vision
Video editing and post-production capabilities across short-form, branded, and event recap content - cutdowns, string-outs, selects, and rough-to-final edit management
QC and final delivery of video assets for client, social, editorial, and event use
Partner cross-functionally with Brand Partnerships, Editorial, Video, Social, Production, and Events teams to deliver best-in-class storytelling and client solutions
Build and maintain strong relationships with freelance and external creative partners including writers, directors, editors, photographers, producers, stylists, and content creators
Collaborate with Project Management, Account Management, and Sales teams on campaign reporting, wrap materials, recaps, and final program deliver
Oversee digital publishing workflows across platforms including WordPress, JW Player, Brightcove, and social channels.
Qualifications:
At least 8-10 years of experience producing branded video and social content within a major media publisher, entertainment brand, music company, agency, studio, network, or related industry
Deep understanding of music, pop culture and visual storytelling
A strong portfolio showcasing video, digital and experiential creative with cultural impact
Established network of creative freelancers and production partners, including writers, editors, directors, photographers, producers and creators
Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring creative talent
Ability to balance big-picture vision with hands-on execution
