About This Role Seeking a highly skilled and passionate Bike Technician to join our team! A background in bicycle mechanics and parts, combined with excellent customer service skills, is essential for success in this role. Responsibilities will include: • Building and preparing bikes for sale, as well as performing a variety of service functions on new and used bikes. • Providing personalized customer service through direct interaction with customers, fostering a positive and supportive shopping environment. We are looking for a dependable, people-oriented, and adaptable individual with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Experience as a technician or mechanic is preferred, but we welcome riders and enthusiasts from all ages and levels of experience. What You'll Do This role involves a wide range of tasks, including: • Applying shop standards to the assembly and repair of bikes and skis, across the full product line. • Evaluating the mechanical condition of products and estimating the cost of repairs. • Providing customers with a detailed assessment of the repair work required, including an estimated completion date. • Meeting or exceeding shop production standards, while maintaining accurate and thorough paperwork. • Recording and reporting any deficiencies not addressed by the repair work, to customers and leaders. • Assisting customers with product and technical knowledge, as needed. • Operating the cash register, as necessary. • Reporting or recording replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the General Manager, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. • Performing a variety of tasks, including installing and adjusting speed and gear mechanisms, assembling new bicycles, and repairing equipment or accessories. • Aligning wheels, disassembling axles, shaping replacement parts, and repairing holes in tire tubes. • Welding broken or cracked frames, painting bicycle frames, and installing and adjusting brakes and brake pads. • Helping customers select bicycles that fit their body sizes and intended uses, selling bicycles and accessories, and installing new tires and tubes. • Cleaning and lubricating bicycle parts, ordering bicycle parts, and building wheels. • Adjusting vehicle components according to specifications, explaining technical product information to customers, and performing basic equipment maintenance. • Other duties as assigned or needed. Requirements Requirements include but are not limited to: • Ability to maintain open and positive relations with employees and customers. • Strong attention to detail. • Previous bike assembly experience or equivalent. • Minimum 2 years experience preferred working as a technician/ mechanic in a bike shop. • Interest in working in a team environment committed to providing excellent sales and service experience while increasing sales through service. • Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends. • Ability to periodically lift 40 pounds. • Interest in developing own skills and knowledge.
