Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Benefits Team Leader to join a local authority on a temporary basis. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing and coordinating the Housing Benefits team, alongside supporting the wider Revenues, Benefits and Customer Contact service. You will ensure the effective delivery of services in line with statutory requirements, performance targets, and corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities: • Lead, manage, and develop the Housing Benefits team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service • Monitor, analyse, and report on service performance, implementing improvements where required • Oversee complex Housing Benefit cases, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data integrity • Ensure service delivery aligns with relevant legislation, best practice, and organisational goals • Support wider service operations, including deputising for senior management and driving continuous improvement initiatives • Work collaboratively across Revenues, Benefits, and Customer Contact teams Candidate Requirements: • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a high-volume, customer-focused environment • Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax legislation • Experience working with Revenues and Benefits systems and performance frameworks • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills • Analytical and solution-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Benefits professional to step into a leadership role within a busy local authority environment.
