About the Role
The BT Teacher is a flexible instructional and behavioral support professional who serves as both a classroom teacher and behavior support specialist based on the needs of the center. This position provides direct behavioral support to children while also assisting classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.
The BT Teacher is expected to understand and implement the Learning Beyond Paper curriculum, support kindergarten readiness initiatives, and serve as a classroom resource by modeling effective teaching strategies and positive behavior management techniques.
Based on business needs, the BT Teacher may be assigned to different classrooms, provide one-on-one behavioral support, assist with classroom instruction, or be utilized in classroom ratios in accordance with state licensing regulations.
What You’ll Do
Behavioral Support
• Implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as directed.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group behavioral support.
• Utilize positive behavior support and de-escalation strategies.
• Collect behavioral data and complete required documentation.
• Support children in developing social, emotional, communication, and self-regulation skills.
Classroom Teaching
• Understand and implement the Learning Beyond Paper curriculum .
• Assist with lesson planning and daily classroom activities.
• Lead whole-group and small-group instruction when needed.
• Support kindergarten readiness through intentional teaching practices.
• Maintain active engagement with all children throughout the day.
Teacher Coaching & Support
• Serve as a classroom resource for teachers by modeling best practices.
• Coach teachers on positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate instructional techniques.
• Assist teachers with implementing curriculum and maintaining classroom routines.
• Support new teachers as they become familiar with classroom expectations and procedures.
Classroom Operations
• May be assigned to any classroom based on business needs.
• May be utilized in classroom ratio in accordance with state licensing regulations.
• Assist with transitions, meals, playground supervision, rest time, and classroom routines.
• Help maintain organized, safe, and engaging classroom environments.
• Ensure classrooms remain licensing compliant and inspection-ready.
Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with Center Directors, teachers, Behavior Services, and families.
• Maintain professional communication with staff and families.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
Documentation
• Complete behavior documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
• Report concerns promptly to leadership.
Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an early childhood education or licensed child care setting required.
• Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) experience preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Ability to understand and implement early childhood curriculum.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and support classroom teachers.
• Strong classroom management and behavior support skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
