📢 We're Hiring: Summer Camp Group Leader About Southern Queens Parks Association (SQPA) Since 1976,   SQPA   has been dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, adults, and families in Southern Queens. Our Beacon  Summer Camp  offers students enriching, club-like experiences that promote academic achievement and leadership skills. SQPA Beacon Community Center is a school-based community center serving children age 6 and older. We are located at the Richard S. Grossley Campus, New Prep Middle School. Our programs are structured like clubs wherein the model offers youth choice in how they spend their time; provides rigorous instruction in sports, arts and youth leadership. NYC becomes the classroom—offering learning opportunities beyond school walls. Position: Group Leader (Gr K–8) We're looking for a Group Leader to support grades K–8 students in both academics and enrichment activities. This in-person, seasonal position runs from   July 1 - August 14th   and offers hands-on experience in education and youth development, with the potential for continued employment. 📝   Key Responsibilities • Supervise students and ensure a safe, positive environment. • Support instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. • Assist with physical education, visual arts, and performing arts. • Promote collaboration through group activities and research projects. • Escort students between activities in a timely, orderly manner. • Support certified staff with lesson planning and classroom prep. • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents. • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and incidents. • Attend required trainings, meetings, and program evaluations. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Program Director(s). 📍   Location I.S. 8 Richard Grossley School 108-35 167TH St. Jamaica, New York 11433 💼 Position Details • Job Type:   Seasonal, In-Person • Compensation:   $17.00/hour • Hours:   35–40 hours/week • Schedule:   July 1 – August 14, Monday–Friday (must be available full term) • Minimum Requirements:   High school diploma; interest in working with youth • 🌍 Commitment to Inclusion SQPA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
