ROLE DESCRIPTION & KEY REPONSIBILITIES
Viking is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to play a key role in its legal function. This position will report directly into the General Counsel, Allison Becker and will play a critical role in Viking’s day-to-day business, contributing to a broad range of matters.
The senior legal Counsel will interact directly with Viking’s executive team and other internal as well as external stakeholders and have an opportunity to advise on legal issues in a variety of areas across the organization. The Senior Legal Counsel contributes to the business with complex legal and business problems, incl. financing. The hired candidate will have the opportunity to develop strategies for handling legal issues in business-centric ways and build processes that address risk, allow the business flexibility and freedom to continue to grow. In addition to corporate legal matters, this Senior Legal Counsel will support Viking’s financing activities, which are critical to the business.
The successful candidate will have a business-first mentality and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. They will possess a “hands on” and "roll up their sleeves" working style, strong communication skills, low-ego, and a strong work ethic built on a service-first mentality.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Best in class law firm experience
• Civil and common law experience
• Commercial law experience and excellent negotiation skills
• Proficiency in writing and negotiating contracts
• Ability to be the legal sparring partner on a broad range of legal topics
• Law degree and ideally LL.M.

• Public company experience
• Shipping, Travel & Tourism or hospitality experience
• Financing experience
• Bar exam
