Summary of Position
The Café Barista at The Maybourne Beverly Hills is responsible for serving high-quality coffee/tea beverages by delivering a 5-Star luxury experience that follow our hotels standards to ensure guest satisfaction.
Roles and Responsibilities
Core functions of the position, but are not limited to the following;
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
• Maintain complete knowledge of ingredients and potential allergens for all menu items. Clearly communicate any allergies to Chef and Manager/Supervisor upon receiving guest order to ensure guest safety and minimize potential risk.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant.
• Complete opening side duties as assigned:
• Check quality and amount of all restaurant stock and supplies using checklist.
• Fold napkins.
• Requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to restaurant.
• Set tables according to service standards
• Set up all condiments and beverages according to service standards.
• Ensure a sufficient supply of all silverware, glassware and chinaware for service. Supplies must be perfectly polished, without any water spots and blemishes.
• Check cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify any deficiencies.
• Set upside station with supplies and equipment.
• Take guests’ food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
• Record order of guest following departmental service procedures.
• Clearly communicate special menu requests and/or allergies to Chef and Manager/Supervisor and confirm details prior to placing order on POS.
• Input order into POS and ensure transmission of food orders is verified by kitchen. Follow specific order placing technique while entering order.
• Legibly document orders when system is down and distribute food orders to kitchen.
• Retrieve all alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guest in accordance with the departmental standards.
• Make all varieties of coffee in accordance with the departmental standards.
• Serve all non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards.
• Acknowledge guest and anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and with a sense of urgency.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
• Remove soiled wares from tables as assigned and transport to dishwashing area.
• Polish glassware and silverware as needed.
• Attend daily meetings with service team and management prior to start of shift.
• Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
• Complete closing side duties:
• Safely store all reusable goods.
• Breakdown all goods as specified in departmental standards.
• Clean all equipment as assigned in the side duties.
• Restock items for next service.
• Remove all dirty linen.
• Reset tables for next meal period.
• Complete all closing reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor.
• Exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with guests and fellow colleagues.
• Perform and execute all other duties as assigned by hotel management.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent education required
• Minimum of one year experience in Food and Beverage
• Minimum of one year experience in customer service
• Exceptional guest recovery skills
