Description
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is seeking a Backend Support Software Developer for a fully onsite position focused on enhancing existing mission-critical systems, integrating backend solutions, and ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable operations. The role emphasizes troubleshooting complex technical challenges, supporting incident response, and driving system improvements for aeronautical navigation capabilities.
What You'll Do
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues involving REST APIs, databases, and distributed applications
• Develop, enhance, and document backend functionality within GitLab repositories using DevOps practices
• Collaborate with Agile teams in sprint planning, standups, and testing activities using Atlassian tools
• Apply Python, C#, and Java expertise to deliver scalable backend solutions and cloud computing modifications
• Support and enhance incident response procedures and integrate open-source and government-owned technical solutions into enterprise systems
What You Need
• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years
• Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI post-hire
• DoD 8570 compliance (Security+ or higher certification)
• 3+ years of experience with Python and C#/Java frameworks
• 4+ years with unit testing, CI/CD tools, and GitLab; strong REST API and backend database troubleshooting skills
Nice to Have
• Linux and/or Windows system administration experience
• Familiarity with DoD Aeronautical Datasets
• Experience with AWS CloudFormation templates and cloud-based deployments
• Exposure to Node, NPM, REST API development, and Swashbuckle; DevOps or C# Developer certifications
