Azure Government (GCC High) Systems Administrator
Job Description:
The Azure Government Systems Administrator supports in managing and maintaining our Microsoft Azure Government (GCC High) cloud infrastructure inside a CMMC Level 2 / NIST800-171r2 environment that handles Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). This is a hands-on execution role. The administrator implements and operates the infrastructure, governance, and security controls that has been architected and takes ownership of day-to-day administration across the Azure Gov infrastructure: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) workloads, Azure CycleCloud Workspace for Slurm, identity, cloud networking boundary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and harden Azure Gov infrastructure: Vnets, storage accounts, NSGs, and UDRs
• Deploy, patch, and operate containerized workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service(AKS)
• Author and maintain Azure Policy definitions, initiatives, and assignments.
• Drive compliance remediation and enforce tagging and guardrails.
• Manage identity and access: Entra ID, conditional access, RBAC, PIM.
• Support the cloud networking infrastructure
• Implement and evidence CMMC L2 / NSIT 800-171r2 controls.
• Monitor, patch, backup, and troubleshoot Azure resources.
• Automate and manage environment with PowerShell, AzureCLI, and Logic Apps.
• Build and maintain cost visibility: budgets, alerts, and Cost Management reporting.
• Collaborate with IT team members to design and implement new solutions.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Support in managing and maintaining Azure Data Factory and data pipeline architecture.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users.
• Plan and coordinate projects across multiple departments to meet organizational needs.
• Assist in building, operating, securing CI/CD pipelines
• Managing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) infrastructure
• Supporting Azure CycleCloud Workspace for Slurm and underlying High Performance Compute Cluster
Qualifications:
• Hands-on Azure Government (GCC High) experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in system administration, with a focus on Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Operational AKS experience with deployments, networking, secrets, node pools, troubleshooting.
• Identity and access at depth: Entra ID, Conditional Access, RBAC, PIM, oAuth, Enterprise Applications.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking: Azure Vnets, NSGs, UDRs, S2S VPN.
• CMMC L2 / NIST 800-171r2 requirements and how controls map to Azure configuration.
• Proficiency in automating tasks with PowerShell, AzureCLI, Logic Apps.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
• Infrastructure as code in production: Bicep or Terraform
• Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) administration
• DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, certificate lifecycle management, GitOps workflows
• Certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, CompTIA Security+
