Description
The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, and comprehensive mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure optimal vehicle safety and performance.
• Diagnostics: Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment and specialized tools to identify engine, transmission, electrical, and brake issues accurately.
• Maintenance: Execute routine preventative care, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
• Repairs: Fix or replace worn, damaged, or defective components, and perform post-repair test-drives to confirm proper operation and safety.
• Communication: Clearly explain repair needs, scope of work, and estimates to customers or service advisors.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete logs of services performed, parts used, and labor hours.
Education and Work Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a postsecondary vocational program or associate degree in Automotive Technology preferred.
• Practical experience performing automotive diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work.

Qualifications:
• Valid ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications or manufacturer-specific credentials preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Requirements
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
• Must be able to sit for short and long periods of time traveling from site to site.
• Must be able to drive company vehicle and get in/out of vehicle throughout the day.
• Good physical stamina, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination necessary for working in a shop environment.
