The Automation Assistant role is based in Erdington and involves monitoring and supporting automated conveyor systems within a pharmaceutical distribution centre. You will work a permanent afternoon shift pattern, Sunday to Thursday, from 15:00 to 23:00, earning £16.00 per hour on a temp-to-perm basis. Responsibilities include identifying equipment faults, responding to system alerts, and escalating technical issues to the Engineering team to minimise downtime. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Previous experience in a warehouse or automated environment is beneficial. This full-time contract offers the chance to join a specialist logistics operation. Automation Assistant Location: Erdington, Birmingham Shift Pattern: Permanent Afternoons (Sunday- Thursday) 15:00-23:00 Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour Temp to Perm About the Role: We are recruiting for an Automation Assistant to join a leading logistics company specialising in the storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products. Working within a highly automated distribution centre, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of automated conveyor systems that transport pharmaceutical products throughout the warehouse. You will be responsible for monitoring the automation system, identifying equipment faults, responding to system alerts, and escalating issues to the Engineering team to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with technology, and supporting automated warehouse operations within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor automated conveyor systems and warehouse automation equipment to ensure continuous operational performance. Identify faults and system alerts using visual indicators, including colour-coded and shape-specific warning signals displayed on the automation control system. Investigate the source and location of faults by following standard operating procedures and system guidance. Respond promptly to automation stoppages and equipment alarms to minimise disruption to warehouse operations. Accurately record faults, incidents, and operational downtime using internal reporting systems. Escalate mechanical and electrical faults to the Engineering team, providing clear and accurate information to support efficient fault resolution. Skills & Experience -Essential Previous experience working within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or automated production environment.
