Reports to: Director, Center for Family Life and Associate Director, Programs for Infants + Toddlers
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Overview:
The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan seeks a part-time Associate Teacher for our Turning 2s pre-nursery program. The position is for June- mid August with the potential to continue throughout the school year.
Turning 2s is designed to be a young child's first drop-off experience in a classroom setting. Our pre-nursery programs are play-based, open-ended classes that encourage exploration, growth, and discovery. We strive to create inclusive and engaging environments where children and families can become part of a community and develop lasting connections.
The ideal candidate is adaptable and can transition in and out of different classrooms while supporting and collaborating with other teaching staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with the teaching team to:
• Communicate with families through reflection emails, posts, etc.
• Organize and maintain a classroom.
• Maintain the safety, happiness, and growth of children in classes
• Plan innovative, open-ended, developmentally appropriate, child-centered explorations according to our curriculum
Qualifications:
• Prior experience working with young children in a classroom or informal setting.
• A kind, warm, welcoming, and reflective demeanor.
• Excellent ability to interact, communicate, and build relationships with fellow staff members, parents, and caregivers.
• Knowledge of development and learning for children under 3.
• Familiarity with Reggio Emilia, play-based and child-centered learning a plus.
Salary Range:
Minimum $28 - Maximum $35/hour
Hours:
• Mondays-Thursdays 8:30-11:30 am (class time is 9:00-11:00 am)
• Possibility for additional hours throughout the summer
