Position Overview: The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and Early Childhood faculty in caring for children ages 3-6 within a developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and rhythm-based Waldorf early childhood environment. This role plays an essential part in maintaining the integrity, quality, and daily life of the Early Childhood programs. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively to support children through daily rhythms that include free play, outdoor time, music, artistic activity, storytelling, and practical care, helping to create a calm and secure foundation for early childhood. Core Responsibilities: • Support the Lead Teacher in caring for children ages 3–6 • Help maintain a warm, orderly, and nurturing classroom environment • Assist with daily rhythms including play, transitions, snack time, and outdoor activity • Engage children through age-appropriate song, movement, storytelling, and artistic work • Collaborate with Early Childhood faculty and staff to uphold program quality and consistency • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times • Lead the class when lead teacher is absent Required Qualifications and Skills: • Genuine interest in Waldorf education and early childhood development • High school diploma required • Minimum of two years documented experience working with children • Understanding of young children’s physical, social, emotional, and developmental needs • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and families • Musical, artistic, or handwork skills are valued • All required clearances upon hire • Previous Waldorf training or experience is welcomed but not required. Openness to learning and alignment with Waldorf pedagogy are essential.
