This position is responsible for assisting the Superintendents in supervising crew, dispersing daily crew work assignments, and participating in the maintenance of the golf courses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Ensures golf course grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament quality conditions • Assists in supervising and training a crew of 20 plus employees • Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation system • Ensures the application and management of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Maintain required certifications and application records. • Monitor turf health and identify disease, insect, or environmental stress issues. • Coordinate with equipment operators regarding maintenance and repair needs. • Ensure proper operation and care of maintenance equipment. • Assist in maintaining maintenance facilities, storage areas, and inventory controls. • Monitor supplies and assist with ordering materials as needed. • Follows all state and local safety and environmental standards • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations. • Assist with safety meetings and trainings • Other duties as directed. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS • Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment and irrigation technology • Previous supervisory experience preferred • Possess strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills • Ability to work flexible schedule and long hours when necessary • Keen attention to detail and strong sense of urgency • Bilingual in Spanish preferred. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS • 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred • SC Certified pesticide applicators license or able to obtain one within 60 days. SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS • Endure long hours of being exposed to all types of weather conditions • Required to walk and stand for lengthy periods of time • Frequently requires the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 lbs.
