Position Overview
The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the lead teacher in executing a developmentally appropriate daily schedule, ensures constant supervision and safety of children, and fosters a warm, inclusive environment for children ages 2 to 5.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in implementing daily activities and curriculum that meet children’s developmental needs
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
• Support positive guidance strategies aligned with regulatory standards
• Supervise and interact with children during play, meals, rest, and transitions
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to complete documentation and child observations
• Adhere to Pennsylvania DHS regulations and all health and safety protocols
• Maintain confidentiality of child and family information
• Assist with cleaning, toileting, or hygiene needs as necessary
Required Qualifications
• Minimum age: 18 years old
• Minimum of high school diploma or GED
• Ability to obtain and maintain:
• FBI fingerprint clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and PA State Police Criminal History Clearance
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification Code Chapter 055_3290
• Completion of pre-service health & safety training, including:
• Prevention of SIDS, shaken baby syndrome, medication administration, infectious disease control, emergency preparedness, etc. Code Chapter 055_3290
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years experience in an early childhood or group care setting
• Familiarity with DHS Group Child Care Home regulations (55 Pa. Code Chapter 3280)
Hours & Compensation
• Full Time (40 hours per week)
